KEVIN KUTZ

When joining The Coal Mountain Ramblers in spring of 2006, Kevin and his fiddle were and are "The Glue" that binds the music into one cohesive entity. But it doesn't stop there. Kevin is also a talented banjo / mandolin player and backing/lead vocalist who isn't afraid to throw some Ukulele into the mix as well. Basically, if you hand Kevin any instrument, he will play it and it will sound good. His deep knowledge of both traditional and contemporary music provides The Coal Mountain Ramblers with endless possibilities and directions for musical exploration. Along with original songs such as "On the Wagon" and "Danishes for Roy", Kevin has hundreds of songs in his head that he can 'break out' at any moment, old-school traditional or otherwise, and will do so with the CMR with pleasure. So if you're traveling through Bedford County and you see a man with an easel and a Beagle by his side, it's probably Kevin. And if you walk up and ask him what he's doing don't be surprised if he tells you "just artin' around". And make sure you give Lucy the Beagle a nice rub behind the ears. She loves it.

"Artist, painter, writer, and musician", that's the label best applied to Mr. Kevin Kutz as he is a man of many talents. Kevin is a working artist from Bedford Pennsylvania whose body of work is numbered in the thousands. If forced to describe Kevin in two words or less, those words would be "unbridled creativity". His very existence is a constantly evolving work of performance art and it shines through in everything he does. Kevin has a full color book published of his large collection of paintings called "Lincoln Highway", and has regular exhibits and shows in galleries from Pennsylvania to Vermont on a routine basis. He even recently had his work included in the world of film, with himself and his paintings appearing in the movie "30". One of his paintings even graces the cover of first official CMR CD release "CMR to the Max". On the side, he also plays fiddle with talented local Bedford singer/songwriter John Karnes.
